Black Hat SEO tricks are getting trickier.

Or at least odder. In a post subtly titled “Why it is good to link to LZZR” LZZR suggests that it is advantageous for you to link to their site, and argues (rather ineloquently) an interesting technique to raise PR and and raise SERP placement. However, it seems that the idea is black hat (or at least grey) and more likely to cause trouble in the long run. Linking should be mutually beneficial for both the linking site and the linked one and more these benefits must be obvious and immediate.

No, this post isn’t about making a difference; it is about the blogger (specifically myself) and advertising, so be warned that this post will be in a far more conversant style than I usually use. In a perfect world people would throw money at me like confetti for every word that flows like poetry out of my keyboard, unfortunately as those extremely annoying commercials reminded us, we don’t live in perfect and are forced to live in reality.

Fun with Google translator.

We have all seen those weird phrases that occur when you translate a normal sentence into several different languages through one of the many translation services, but this is different–slightly. I noticed from a tracback that a review (I think) of one of my plugins was posted in Japanese. Although I can stumble though some basic romanized Japanese, I can’t read Kanji or Kana, so I went over to Google to find out what it said….

I found this excellent post about free online courses before my database crashed and I thought it would be worth resharing. Taken from here Not headed back to school this fall? You could be, minus the exorbitant tuition and without even leaving your chair. The web has made it easier than ever before to get a free education, and you’d join the ranks of great thinkers in history who were also self-taught, like Joseph Conrad, Albert Einstein, Alexander Graham Bell, Paul Allen, Agatha Christie and Ernest Hemingway.

In part one I suggested a merit based system; this idea is complete and utter hogwash. It is not a money-less society; it is a tiger who tried to change its stripes. The problem with a money-less society is that you need away to control resources and reward those that do best without playing favorites. Here we should diverge from the topic at hand and take a look at the options.
