Darkness and Light in “Oedipus Rex”

The only ones who can truly see are blind. This is a popular theme through out Greek literature, especially in “Oedipus Rex” where Sophocles nurtures the idea that real sight does not require eyes but the ability to see beyond the surface of things. According to Sophocles, one must not only be able to see something, but one must also be able to understand it. Teiresias, the only physically blind character, is the only person that throughout the play can actually see what has, is and will happen.

“Ktaadn” Thoreau’s Culture Shock

For anyone who has read Thoreau’s “Life in the Woods” Ktaadn seems to be written by a different person. “Life in the Woods” is written by an author so full of himself he thinks of himself as being better than everyone else around him, he values nature over all things and is extremely philosophical in his musings and above all considers nature as a thing that must be protected from man.

Equiano’s “Narrative” and Jacobs’ “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl”

Jacobs lead a very easy life for a slave. Being born into a kind family and having a grandmother to watch out for her allowed her to have a childhood that was almost enviable, although she was mistreated after her original mistress died she never had to experience the brutal torture many slaves faced at the hands of their masters. Many would wonder why she ran away from her home and family when her life was not all that bad and could get a lot worse, however even though her life was not in constant danger of physical abuse she was still a slave and subject to her master’s every whim.

“The Metamorphosis” representing the Serbians in World War 2

I would like to propose a new meaning of “The Metamorphosis” quite different from those already stated. “The Metamorphosis” can interpreted to show the effect of the dying on a family but also interpreted to show the effect that an outcast from society can feel. Gregor’s turning into a bug could be construed as a groups sudden repulsiveness to the world as a whole. With each member of the family displaying a different part of the world at large.

INAP bugs and delays.

It seems the latest release of INAP has a few bugs in it, but unfortunately, I will be unable to do any real work on it for at least a week. I apologize for an inconvienece this may cause.

Inline Ajax Page v 2.3 is Released.

INAP v 2.3 has now been released and includes such wonderful features as threaded comments, JQuery support, better plugin integration (including Lightbox!), and pagination that really works. Less important features include better embedded post support, a roaming show/hide link for posts and much more.
