Some people search search engines by using a few keywords, but others ask entire questions. This series of posts is dedicated to them. Over the next couple weeks I’m going to pick full questions from my logs and answer them. It is the least I could do. The first question in this series comes from an American using Windows and Internet Explorer, and they ask “What religion did the People of the Roman Empire follow?” Well I’m glad you asked that… um…let’s call you Fred… while your search landed on a very popular article entitled Causes and Effects of the Popularization of Christianity in the Roman Empire, I’m afraid that it won’t answer your question entirely.

8 Tips for Improving the Content of Your Writing

The content of writing is separate from style and structure because content is what you write not how you write. The following tips apply just as well to academic essays as to blog posts, so feel free to cherry pick the suggestions that apply best to your writing. Pick an an interesting, significant topic. Too many times posts are done on something insignificant or unoriginal. It doesn’t really matter if you write a gorgeous tutorial or a powerful, inspiring and riveting essay if it just explains something most people already know about.

Chomp Chomp… Ack. My sidebar was eaten.

It seems something with the blogrush widget was eating my left-hand sidebar in IE, so I’ve removed it until I can scour through the code to find the bug. The worst part is that I don’t know how long it has been doing it because I don’t usually open my website in IE unless I am changing the styling. Sorry for any confusion or weirdness. It just goes to show that you can’t trust random widgets you find on the web.

Fun with self-defeating circular logic.

Although I know I should be doing something constructive, I don’t know what I should do that is constructive, so I am doing nothing constructive because I can’t think of what I should be doing that is constructive, and I am just sitting here doing something not constructive to avoid thinking of a constructive thing I could be doing, so I would be spending my time doing something constructive, but I want to be doing something constructive even though I am not trying to be doing something constructive, thus I am trying not to be doing something that I could do that is constructive, and although I know I should be doing something constructive, I don’t know what I should do that is constructive, so I am doing nothing constructive because I can’t think of what I should be doing that is constructive, and I am just sitting here doing something not constructive to avoid thinking of a constructive thing I could be doing, so I would be spending my time doing something constructive, but I want to be doing something constructive even though I am not trying to be doing something constructive, thus I am trying not to be doing something that I could do that is constructive… Ever had one of those days?
