AJAXed WordPress 1.21 released…finally.
Posted on Friday the 13th of June, 2008 at 10:45 am in Plugins, PoetryAfter much delaying and dragging of feet and delaying of the third kind, AJAXed WordPress version 1.21 has been released with much fanfare and reader appreciation. This version introduces full AJAX navigation, better support for embedded JS in AJAX-loaded pages, and Italian language support.
The new version of the navigation module was commissioned and paid for by DJ Nightlife (may he be blessed with many children who don’t go through the “terrible-twos”.) AJAX Navigation has been available in AWP for several years now, but it was primitive and unfinished. Its use was limited to very specific websites that were capable of embracing its flaws. I’d like to thank him for his support of the project, and I would encourage any other users to consider commissioning features both for yourself and the AWP community at large.
The changes to the AJAX navigation module were immense and involves a complete rewrite, but it is now flexible enough to be used on any website and allows one to use any number of combinations of its features including: “page” navigation, category navigation, single post navigation, home page navigation or for those who want it, navigation of the entire website. The website is fully usable by search engines and users without JavaScript, and bookmark-ability is retained for users with JS.
JS inline the post content will now work in most circumstances. One of the most-requested compatibility issues has been solved thanks to the changes in the AJAX navigation module. While there has not been large amounts of testing, things like DIGG buttons should now work even when posts are loaded inline. This works with ALL features not just the AJAX navigation.
Italian language support has been added to this version thanks to Gianni Diurno. I’d like to further thank Momo-i for continuing to maintain the Japanese translations and lots of typo-finding in the plugin as a whole.
