 I believe that an overwhelming majority of Americans agree even somewhat slightly that there IS a God and they are more comfortable questioning religion because they are protected by laws. The number of Americans that believe there is absolutely NO God may be well under one percent. The author is completely validated in his remark that "Americans still value a belief in a god".

Thanks! I just thought I should tell you that came off as an over generalization. Otherwise, I really enjoy reading your posts. :)

I'm not religious at all, but I do recognize that "Americans" are religious to some extend. I don't believe that saying "Americans still value a belief in god" implies that all Americans are religious any more than saying "dogs like people" implies that all dogs are friendly.

I have tweaked the post slightly though.

I dislike it when people overgeneralize Americans. I'm an American and I don't believe in a god nor do I value a belief in one. I know others who also do not believe in a god and don't value a belief in god. I know you know there are many Americans you don't believe in a god, but when you say, "Americans still value a belief in a god," you're implying all Americans do, which is simply not the case.
