AboutMyPlanet.com is an article and forum driven, general information website that deals with all issues surrounding environmental and other “green” concerns, and, among its most notable features, runs off of WordPress. But this is, unfortunately, not a review of their excellent platform choice and attractive design, but a look into their treatment of solar power, one of many different categories, as a way of creating a sustainable and livable future.

The articles that they have thus far published are insightful and the collection as a whole is balanced between the scientific, useful and interesting, and their treatment of topics within solar power are varied ranging from current events, to geopolitical effects and policies in implementing solar power on a local basis.

All-in-all, AboutMyPlanet is an excellent resource for environmental news with well-written and researched articles from a variety of authors and their solar power section is no different, and as it grows it is on its way to becoming an excellent resource in its own right.

Besides…they use WordPress. That makes them wonderful in my eyes.

However, I do have my integrity, so I promise that sponsored posts will only be a means to an end on this website, and will never be so prominent as to remove the focus from the ideas that this website was founded on. To this end I have drafted a “declaration of intention” to ensure that I never overstep the bounds I have set for myself.

1. Integrity — I will never lie on a post or recommend something that I do not honestly believe is useful.
2. Greed — I will post no more than one sponsored post for every 5 “real” posts or no more than once a week whichever is greater.
3. Transparency — Any posts that are sponsored will be clearly marked as such: they will have their own format and category to ensure their source is easily determined.
4. Usefulness — Sponsored posts will always be on a topic that would be of interest to my normal readers: if it wouldn’t fit into a normal category, I won’t use it.

I have already rejected opportunities because they did not fit into these criteria, so don’t worry, I keep my promises. Oh, and this is a sponsored post, so that means some “real” posts are coming very soon.
